Cultural customs and societal norms vary all over the world. As tourists in foreign countries, it is important to have a basic understanding of these customs so as to be respectful and not offend anyone. When we travel we often go to restaurants, stay at hotels, and take taxis. In the US, you leave a generous tip for all three of those services, but in other countries, the standard amount to tip is usually different. Some countries don't prefer a tip at all.
